Stellite® 12

Invented in the early 1900’s by Elwood Haynes, Stellite® is a trademarked name of the Deloro Stellite Company.  There are many Stellite alloys with different compositions designed for wear resistance in various applications.  Stellite® 12 is an intermediate alloy, resistant to high heat (up to 700°C), corrosion and abrasion.  It is commonly used in a variety of industries to make knives, saw tips, pump and engine parts, glass moulding equipments, and as hardfacing alloy applied to anything that needs to stand up to extreme circumstances.

Sometimes we get leftover Stellite welding rod from sawmills who use it to tip round saws and band saws, however, the machine they use leaves stubs that can still be used by others.  In the past we have sold these to farmers and ranchers who use it to hardface heavy equipment such as loader buckets and cat blades.
